Welcome to today's Freak Out Friday.
A moment of random ramblings, that will hopefully give you a tip or two and some insight on my perspective of all this coupon craziness.
Today I thought I would answer some of the more recent questions I've received in my email.
I try to answer all the questions I get via email, Facebook and on the blog. So, if you have a questions feel free to send it to me I'll do my best to get to you. These are questions I received this week in my email that made me laugh, cry and just plain think. So, I thought I would pass them on to you. Some are coupon related some are random. Here we go
#1 – What happened to last weeks Freak – Out Friday?
#2 – What happened to the Disney on Ice Video?
*Same answer to both question – I'm am so excited to share that we are taking on a new partner. A very skilled photographer (Bob) that has even been featured in a couple of well known magazines is joining our little team of 3. He makes 4. He's a still shot photographer and is looking forward to trying his hand at video and has agreed to shot a few videos. The first was supposed to be Disney. But, an extremely fortunate thing happened with extremely unfortunate timing. Bob's brand new grand baby arrived just hours before the Meet & Greet. Well, family is far more important to us than the website and despite Bob's desire to come and do the video, I just didn't want him too. After all, I'm a grandma too. So, my hubby tried to fill in…..what do I say…..LOL…Cry out loud….I love you honey…..Aim the camera up when you're shooting and down at the floor when you're not. There just wasn't any usable video. I'll leave it at that.
#3- Why do you keep dropping the ball on Rite Aid? Does Walgreens pay you or something like that? Are you going to continue your tutorial on Rite Aid?
*No, Walgreens doesn't pay me. Neither does Smith's. Both should…(in my humble little opinion) So here's where I stand. I like my life as simple as possible. And, Rite Aid… “it aint simple”. I like quick easy deals that are straight forward and don't require a ton of hoop jumping. I don't mind a register reward or in Rite Aid's case a +UP Reward, in fact I love them….
But, when I have to watch a video then save the coupon I earn from watching the video for an entire month and sometime during that time that I'm saving the coupon, I have to have a vision and try and predict a sale and print a manufacture coupon that only lasts for a day of printing. Then wait for the sale (that was in my vision) that comes along the next month, then run to Rite Aid at 6:00 am in the morning, before I've even read the Rite Aid ad, that only sometimes comes in my paper, to get the item before it runs out. Then come home and submit for a rebate, remember to request the rebate check and use a +UP Reward that expires before the next sale starts. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
So, from this day forward the only Rite Aid deals I'm going to post will be quick easy deals. Like the Paper Plates. That deal was awesome! If you want Rite Aid matches head to Savvy Shopper she puts up a good Utah list each week. If you want a more compiled list that may or may not work in Utah, I like Southern Cali Saver best. She's already got her post up for next week.
#4- Why did you start this blog?
*I started this blog to help other people as well as develop my own relationship with my son. I felt like we just weren't close, as I'm sure most empty nester mom's feel, especially those with sons. Without getting too much into what he does for a living he knows a lot about web development. I started this little project as a way of bonding with him and chose helping others save some money in hopes of adding value to others lives. I had no idea we would gain so many readers. It makes me feel a huge sense of gratitude.
#5- Do you make much money?
*No, Big national blogs make money. Little community blogs don't. It's part of why you see so many local blogs going national. We do have sponsors and using the links in the posts generates a small revenue. I live, work and play in Utah and my goal was to bring you things that I know our unique population wants and still find the grocery coupon deals you crave. It's truly more a labor of love than a means of income. I've come to think of it as my little craft project.
With that, I feel I've gotten insanely long winded. If you read this post in it's entirety. I want to say thanks. It would be no fun without you!! Enjoy our great weather this weekend! Get out there and do something new, with or without a coupon! 🙂

March 19, 2011 at 1:27 pmIt’s refreshing to have some that acknowledges that the links in the post earn money. You even include a disclosure in each post. I appreciate your value on family and your honesty. I agree with Crystal this is obviously a labor of love. Thanks for your work.

March 18, 2011 at 2:48 pmI think your blog is so popular because of the different approach you take to coupons in general. It’s what drew me in!
I agree about Rite Aid. When I first started couponing I loved Rite Aid! Now I haven’t been there in months.. it stresses me out to think of the transactions while planning for the items I know won’t be in stock, “arguing” with the cashiers about whether or not they feel like writing IOU’s that day.. it IS exhausting!
Keep up the great work! (And I’m sorry about the photo/video mishap!)
