How and Where you should Dispose of Hazardous Waste
Do you have some hazardous waste you need dispose of? Wondering where to go for recycling and disposal of hazardous waste?  Set your calendar for these special days hosted the Salt Lake County Health Department. Items like paint, batteries, cleaning products, old oil, even expired or unused medicines can be dropped of at various Salt Lake locations through-out the year.
All events run from 7:00 am to 10:00 a.m.

Thanks to the Salt Lake City Police Department, pharmaceutical collection is also available at Sugar House Park events.

Collections events cannot accept business waste, explosive, radioactive materials, or old tires. This service is provided only to Salt Lake County residents and is free. If you have questions please call (385) 468-3862.
Did you know, that if you are absolutely unable to take your medicines to a disposal location, before you toss them in the garbage, you should add water and dish soap to each bottle and wrap in duct tape before placing in the trash. Or, that most Salt Lake County libraries will dispose of florescent light tubes.
