May 1, 2011 at 7:28 pmI just got back from Walgreens. I followed this transaction to the letter and it came out exactly right with the exception of tax and the body wash was priced for $4.99. Which made them .25 each since the coupon only allowed up to $4.49. No problems on the coupon though and they were selling plenty of them too. Thanks so much.

May 1, 2011 at 11:05 amThis morning I tried the B1G1F coupon at Walgreens for the Right Guard Defense Body Wash, but it didn’t work. Even though their promo is for buy 1 get one free, they charge $4.49 for the first one and $.50 for the 2nd. When they scanned my coupon, they only took off $0.50! I talked to the manager and they said it was against company policy to be able to get both free, even though you can combine a store deal with a manufacturer’s coupon. I returned the body wash and got my coupon back! Is anyone else having trouble with this type of transaction at Walgreens? I like that Rite Aid accepts this type of deal and has it spelled out in their coupon policy. Walgreen’s isn’t as clear. Does anyone have any tips, hints, advice that they can share?? Thanks in advance! 🙂

May 1, 2011 at 11:19 amSorry you had problems Kurt,
It seems pretty clear to me. Here’s the policy take it with you next time you go. I guess some managers might find it gray. I’ve done it routinely at my Walgreens. Walgreens gets reimbursed for the coupon so not to take it is cutting their own throat. Kind of stupid to turn away money.

I don’t do much with Rite Aid, because every time I go there they are out of product and they don’t re-stock during the sale like Walgreens does. Plus, there are just too many hoopes to jump through. It’s coupon program overload to me. On top of all that I don’t get their ad in my newspaper and when I stop by on Saturday to pick one up, I’ve been treated with a GREAT BIG HUGE amount of disrespect, so I have no way to preview. They’ll have to do a lot of talking to get me back. Sorry again.

May 1, 2011 at 11:34 amThanks so much for your fast response!! I’ll take the policy with me next time I go & also check at a couple of different Walgreens to see if they’re all consistent. Sorry to hear about your negative experiences with Rite Aid! I can totally understand about the coupon overload thing-they’ve got all sorts of offers you can combine including a $3 off $15 purchase on each receipt I get after doing an online survey. Anyways, I want to say thank you for this awesome website! My mom and I have really started getting into couponing and your site has such a great and organized format–it really helps! Thanks for all your hard work–it’s truly appreciated!!

May 1, 2011 at 11:47 amYou’re welcome. I didn’t mean to beat up so much on Rite Aid. I actually enjoy their programs. I stay up to date on all that’s going on in case there is something I want to publish. But, Ohh… I wish you could have been there the last time I went in to preview an ad…. 🙁 If I was treated that way, Uhm..what about customers? Good luck with your coupon adventures!

May 2, 2011 at 2:30 pmThat’s too bad Rite Aid was so unprofessional! You are BRINGING them business and new customers by posting their ad/offers/discounts, etc. Any sane business would be greatful for that!
