Summer Reading Programs for kids in Utah
Summer break doesn't have to mean an end to learning. There are many companies that offer kids incentives to read by giving them bonus freebies. Here's a list of awesome FREE Summer Reading Programs we found. Please feel free to leave a comment with any we might have missed.
Read Today: In conjunction with the Salt Lake Bees. Kids read 20 minutes a day fill in the form by coloring in the baseballs. Each time they round to the next base they get a prize that includes a pencil, a free book, a Happy Meal and when they hit home they get a free ticket to see the Bees play on August 30. Barnes & Noble Summer Reading: Kids earn a free book when they read 8 books between May 19 and September 7. Full details>>
Chuck E. Cheese: Kids will earn 10 FREE tokens every time they read for 2 weeks in a row. Just fill out the form and bring it in to claim your free token. There are also several more charts kids can complete for more tokens. Full details>>
Utah State Fair Read and Win: Kids must read 10 books between April 1 and July 27 and return the form (must be postmarked on or before July 27) to receive special goodies from the State Fair. Included is a free admission pass, concession coupon and more. Full details>>
Pottery Barn Kids: Receive a free gift when your child attends 5 out-loud story times. Pottery Barn also has fun activities for kids at various times in the store, like treasure hunts. See the schedule here>>
Scholastic Summer Challenge: Offers a chance for kids to log their reading times into their system to compete for the World Record and earn points to redeem for rewards from May 4 – Sept. 4, 2015. Details>>
Sylvan: While this Sylvan Reading Adventure not specifically a summer program, it's worth mention. Reading Adventure lists books to read at different levels and then kids take short quizzes about the books to earn points. The points can then be traded for small prizes, like temporary tattoos or eBook downloads. Full Details>>
