One of my favorite things about fall is driving past my local Pumpkin Patch everyday after work. It's so fun to watch the kids being hauled around in the wheel barrow or running around looking for the perfect pumpkin. This is Schmidt's Farms located on 2200 West and 9000 South. And, I know anyone who lives in the West Jordan area thinks of this as one of our Landmarks. I know I can't wait for them to open every summer and miss it when the tent comes down.
With Halloween almost here I just wanted to remind everyone what a great chance these local pumpkin patches are for some awesome photo ops. I've even seen wedding photos taken at this one! Get the kids in the costume and head to your local pumpkin patch. You can get some great photo's, choose a pumpkin, then come home carve it and cook up the seeds. What fun memories!
Here's a nice list of some other Pumpkin Patches around the State.
Happy Haunting!
My Favorite Way to Roast Pumpkin Seeds
Ingredients
- 1- 1½ cups pumpkin seeds, cleaned and rinsed
- Seasoning as desired my favorite..
- 2 teaspoons of McCormicks Italian Seasoning grinders
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Drizzle of Olive Oil
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Toss Seeds in Olive Oil. Combine the pumpkin seeds with the seasonings. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until seeds are crispy and light golden brown. Remove from the oven and stir with a spatula or wooden spoon to release any seeds that have stuck to the baking sheet, and cool completely before serving.
