UPDATE: This restaurant is no longer in business.
There is a new restaurant that has opened in Holladay. Flora is located on 2335 Murray Holladay Road. Those familiar with the area, it's directly across the street from Geppetto's.
We enjoy trying out new places to eat, so we decided to go check it out. We went for lunch and I have to be honest, when we first pulled up and saw the canopy covered entrance and white table clothes, we thought it was going to be out of our “Shorts & Birks” attire, and that it might be a little too pricy for our budget that day.
However, after walking in the door, we were immediately greeted with a relaxed and comfortable restaurant and a very friendly staff. One could not help but feel a bit nostalgic, with the bluesy, rock music of Fleetwood Mac and Simon & Garfunkel playing in the background.
All that aside, what matters most is the food. I loved Flora's menu. It's simple and clean, with choices that included, Pear and Brie Grilled Cheese Sandwich $10, Chicken and House Made Spinach Linguine $12 and, my choice, The New York Strip Steak, spinach, caramelized brussels sprouts, quinoa, carrots, Gorgonzola salad $15. My meat & potato Hubs, went for the House Pressed Burger with fresh mozzarella and Basil. It was delicious and well priced.
Now that we've been there for lunch, we can't wait to try it out for dinner. I'm looking forward to the Organic Shetland Salmon, mango salsa, cucumber salad, and ginger-scallion with sushi rice. Hubs?… I'm pretty sure he'll take the the steak. YUM!

July 29, 2012 at 9:23 pmThanks so much for sharing your experience. This restaurant is only a few blocks from my house, but I always like to hear about other people’s experiences before I commit to buying a Groupon. Thanks for having such a great site!!
