We went to Christopher's in Draper last weekend to celebrate an event with some friends. Have you been there? We expected it to be similar to the Downtown location, where we have dined for special occasions a couple of times but, it's much different.
The atmosphere is what I would call neighborhood upscale casual dining. The seating was intimate, comfortable and quiet, even though the restaurant itself was pretty crowded. I would feel comfy there in my jeans and burkies and found it a great place to celebrate with friends or have a romantic dinner for 2. The menu prices at the Draper location are also lower than the downtown location.
(Salad Wedge, Coconut Crusted Halibut, Clam Chowder)
Currently the menu offers a special Prix Fixe Dinner that includes: an appetizer (Lobster Wontons, Bruschetta, or Potato Skins), plus you get a salad or soup, one of five different entree's including their popular Prime Rib, and dessert for $29.99. The fact that anything lobster is included and you get 5 courses, is a reasonable price to me. And, I just want to add, that the Clam Chowder is fabulous!
(Lobster Corn Dogs, Bruschetta, Calamari)
For our visit, we went appetizer cuckoo! If you are in the mood for a variety of bites, you might try just ordering appetizers and dessert. You won't leave hungry if you do. Depending on what you choose, they are priced from as low as $4.00 – $14.00.
If you are feeling adventurous, give those Lobster Corn Dogs a try! They are big pieces of Lobster that are cooked to perfection! Very Good! The Calamari was also a home run and had the biggest pieces I have seen in Utah. They were nice and tender, not rubbery at all.
Okay, so now for the big guns. What good is a Steakhouse if you don't see the steak right? Mama Mia, check out the monstrous Corn Fed CAB Center-cut Ribeye ($28.99). It's a whopping 14 oz, that will satisfy ANY meat and potato guy! Not to mention it comes with Salad or Soup!
The Applewood Bacon Wrapped Tenderloin Medallions with Lobster Tail ($31.98) is also a great dish. The thing that stuck me was the bacon, it's crisp, not soggy, and you get two of those medallions. Both steaks were as tender as you would expect. Christopher's will split these up for two and you can add an additional salad if you like to share.
Save room for dessert. We were celebrating so we went ahead and indulged in Cheese Cake, Creme Brulee and some kind of chocolate cake thing. (sorry, I don't remember the menu name). If you like topping off a meal with chocolate, you should give it a try. It's death by chocolate!
