On Saturday, October 22, 100 Humanitarians, a nonprofit founded in Utah that provides sustainable resources to families in Kenya, will be hosting a fundraiser event called Taste of Kenya. The event will have authentic Kenyan food, a silent auction and authentic music. 100% of all of the donations will go toward what the group calls a “business box” that is then distributed to impoverished families in Kenya over time by people that teach them to use the resources of the gift to sustain their own future.
The Business Boxes include a cow, a goat, five chickens, three-square-foot garden boxes, 10 trees to replace the wood in the garden boxes and then reusable feminine hygiene kits for the women in the family. What a neat way to help the people of Kenya.
Tickets for this amazing must be purchased by Saturday, October 15. The $75 is well worth the cost, however Coupons4Utah readers can save $25 by entering the discount code coupons4utah. This seems like a very a fun way to experience another counties culture and cuisine while helping it at the same time. I think it would be a great idea for girls night out or date night.
On a personal note: As I've mentioned before, the founder of this Humanitarian effort, Heidi Totten, is someone that I have worked with personally and I know that her mission comes from her heart. If you have a passion for giving back to communities less fortunate than ours or just want to learn more and experience another culture I believe this will be worth your money.
