With so many great deals on Foodsaver machines right now I thought I would do a quick review of mine. I love my Foodsaver and have owned one for many years. This is actually my second machine, I wore out the first one I owned after about 7 years of use.
In fact, the bottom freezer drawer of my freezer is designated just for vacuum packaged items. One of the nice side effects of Foodsaver packaged foods is how much space it saves in the freezer itself. And, it really does seal tight and keep frost off the food.
For this post, I opted to demonstrate how it works on cheese. Yep, you can freeze grated cheese. Simply grate the cheese, bag and freeze. IMPORTANT TIP – toss cheese in a little cornstarch, to keep it from sticking together before freezing. About a Tablespoon for every 2 cups. Block cheese will freeze, but it crumbles when thawed, I don't recommend it.
You can see how nice and tight it seals up. Your food will stay frost free for a long time.

It's great for veggies, meats, breads and more. Pictured above are items I pulled right out of my freezer for this post. Hum… Roast for Sunday dinner.
It's also fantastic for boxed items! I stocked up on Panko, back when there were so many printable coupons available for Kikkomen products. Then divided the boxes out into recipe size portions, and into the freezer they went. It saves space and no worry about stale Panko.
If you have been hesitating about getting one, you won't be disappointed.
