This yummy and delicious Brie En Croute recipe was inspired by Paula Dean (video here). She uses it on crackers, but I found it made a wonderful desert for a party I had recently. The salty sweet combination went really well with the ice cream. It is so simple and looks like it took all day.
Here's how I made it.
Start with:
- One sheet of Puff Pastry
- One Wheel of Brie Cheese – $1 off one printable coupon offer
- 1/2 cup preserves – I used homemade blackberry/apple (recipe to follow).
- 1/4 chopped walnuts – toast them slightly in a dry pan
- One Egg
Roll out the Puff Pastry, remove the outer layer from the top of the brie cheese.
Place the Pastry sheet on a parchment lined baking sheet, center the brie, top with nuts and preserves.
Loosely, fold up the pastry into a nice little packet, tie with kitchen twine and brush with beaten egg. Bake at 375 for about 20-25 minutes. Be careful not to under bake.
Serve with crackers or ice cream.
