I recently tried out the new Intermountain Connect Care App, and can I just say, I LOVE the premise of this App. As a mom with young kids, I have spent countless nights with sick kiddos, wondering what ails them and if it's bad enough to make an emergency visit. It seems to never fail that they will get sick during after hours in the middle of the night.
This app is the perfect solution. The Connect Care App provides a video visit for patients regardless of time or location. You can interact with Intermountain caregivers via video chat to get medial advice or even treatment for certain conditions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Providers can even prescribe necessary medications to patients.
The App is Free, however, the cost of each “visit” with the App is $49 regardless of insurance coverage. Some insurances may even cover part or all of the fee. Of course, not all medical conditions will work for this app. If the provider sees the need for an in-person visit, they will refer you to a local clinic and you won't be charged for the Connect Care App visit.
I took the Connect Care App for a test drive and it's super easy. You just download the app (Apple or Google), Enroll by entering your information and you are set. You can then select an available provider to video chat with.
So far, the reviews for the Connect Care App are great. One reviewer said it is super fast “taking less than 10 minutes” to visit with a provider and get a prescription. Another reviewer said they just had surgery and “didn't feel like going out to a clinic for a sinus infection” and were able to get the help they needed.
You can use your smartphone, tablet, or computer to connect with a provider.
