If you are looking for a place to make a donation this year, the Salt Lake City Candy Cane Corner is in desperate need of new, unwrapped clothes, toys and household items. You can see the 2017 Top Ten Needs List here or the 2017 Wish List here.
(This video was taken in 2016 but the needs are similar this year.)
If you haven't heard of the Candy Cane Corner, it's a holiday store that assists families of The Road Home, Volunteers of America-Utah and YWCA Utah. Their goal is to make sure that children, and their caregivers, who have escaped domestic violence situations or are experiencing homelessness have gifts for the holidays. In past years, the store has served more than 2,000 people, most being children.
Donations can be dropped off Monday – Friday from noon to 7 pm and weekends from noon to 5 pm at 300 East 400 South, which is the former Barnes Bank Building. They are accepting donations until December 23, 2017.
Candy Cane Corner also accepts monetary donations as well as volunteers to help stock the store, wrap gifts, and sort donations. Volunteers MUST BE 16 years old.
* Hands 4 Helping: Each weekday between Dec 4 – Dec 22, we are featuring a different local charity or service opportunity to help inspire you to give and serve others this holiday season.
