Have you ever found a local store you just flipped over and wondered how you had missed all this time? Last week, I stumbled on the cutest little food co-op in Salt Lake City called The Utah Food Co-op. Have you been there?
This charming little community organic co-op store, located in Murray on 291 E. 4500 S., is easy to spot on the north side of the street, nestled among the businesses, you've probably driven by dozens of times. Once inside you'll find a plethora of fresh and organic produce, eggs, meats and other health products. And, the prices are fantastic. They'll even price match if you find an ad with a lower price, just bring it along.
Now there are some things about this co-op that make it unique. Each produce item is priced by the piece rather than the pound so, you know exactly what paying. Co-op's typically ask for a membership fee. But, this one waives that for anyone living in Utah. The entire staff is volunteer.
And, perhaps, best of all, all proceeds after operating expenses go to charity. IÂ the Utah Co-op a wonderful store to shop at. The founder, Mercedes, is fun and passionate about her store, the customers are loyal and of coarse the food is fresh.
Myself, Loyal Customer Angela and founder Mercedes
Next time you're in the are, put on the brakes and stop in you won't be disappointed.
