Did you finish it yet? Mockingjay…I'm so sad it's over! What a great story!
I've mentioned before that I listen to a lot of Audio Books at work. I really don't know how I would get through the day without them. I listen to dozens of books in a month and I wanted to share with you how I get them.
The first place I go for audio books is the SL County Library. If you live in SL County and you haven't explored their updated website, you should check it out. It's super easy to search for books, hold books, find out what's going on at the library and even pay any fines. Plus, they notify you by email when your books are ready for pick up. They even let you know when a book is coming due and you can renew it right online. All this is our favorite price FREE!
Sometimes however, the Library just doesn't do. Either, they don't have the book I'm after, there are too many holds on the book and I can't wait (like Mockingjay) or…I just don't have time to download disc after disc. Especially if it's a long book.
That's where Audible.com comes in. Audible.com is an audible book store that is powered by Amazon. You pay a monthly charge then are given credits that are good for book downloads. You get 1 credit each month. Most of the books require just one credit.
The nice thing about Audible.com is once you have your book it's yours to keep and they even keep it for you in your library on their website. So, you don't have to waste time downloading or storage space on your computer. They can be played on iPods or any other MP3. And, since they are yours to keep you can also burn them to disc. if you'd like. Plus, there won't be any scratches!
They do have a couple of trials going on right now. The first is for a FREE book. Sign up for a for 14 day trial and you'll get a FREE book right away with no further obligation. Be aware this is a monthly book club. So, if you don't wish to continue your membership you will want to make sure you cancel before the 14 day trial period is over. CLICK HERE to check it out.
My favorite is the introductory offer. You get a 3 month trial period for $7.49 per month. So, you're going to get 3 books for a total of $22.47. If you've ever priced audio books, then you know that's how much 1 book usually costs. So 3 for the price of one is nice! CLICK HERE to check it out.
I thought it would be fun to start a list of best readers. If you listen to audio books you know the readers make or break the book. Leave a comment if you want to pitch in.
My first few picks: Jim Dale, Josephine Bailey, John Lee. Who's yours?
