Just a reminder if you haven't yet you may want to order your Boxes from the Postal Service. You can choose from all kinds of sizes and they ship them to you completely FREE of charge.
Plus, did you know you can mail them right from your house and you don't even need a scale! Choose from 3 sizes of flat rate boxes and they ship for the same price no matter the weight.
Just go to USPS.com (sorry, I can't link to this one) Then click on “Order Supplies” to order your boxes. There's a Priority variety pack (above) or you can choose from many different sizes. All priority boxes and tape plus, various other mailing supplies are completely FREE with no shipping charge. Once you have filled your box go back to USPS.com and click on “Print Postage” from there you can print, pay for and schedule a pick up right from your computer.
Also, if you don't like waiting in line but, need to mail a different size other than the flat rate. Try using the Kiosks that are located in the lobby of most post offices. You can use the automated system to purchase your postage then drop it in the over sized slots they have. Even these are starting to gather a line. But, since they are in the lobby you can go at night or on the weekend when the post office is closed. I've never had to wait then.
These FREE boxes do take a while to come so plan accordingly. Most of my family lives out of state, so I like to keep plenty of them around.
FYI: If you're sending to a Soldier at an APO of FPO you get a discount on the flat rate shipping. And, there is not a better price for sending to a loved one that is overseas. I've checked. Need to know the deadline for shipping? You can find that on USPS.com as well. It's at the bottom of their home page.

If you mail very many packages you may want to invest in your own scale. Don't buy the one from the Post Office! It's cheesy and only weighs up to 10 lbs. But, Amazon does have a Digital Postal Shipping Postage Bench Scales 35 lbs that's just like one I have. It's priced for $24.99 (over a 50% savings) and has a 5 star rating.
