Mother's Day is just a few days away. Can you believe it! Where does the time go? When we were little, Dad would take us to the garden center and help us choose a variety of flowers the Saturday before Mother's Day. Then we would plant them in to big pots my mom had flanking each side of the door. This tradition of planting these same pots carried on right on through our adulthood until she passed. My mom told once it was one of the things she look forward to every year.
Here's a quick post of 3 easy ideas that you can put together with the kids for mom. Maybe one of them will become a family tradition at your house.
#1 – Handprint Stepping Stone: I can see these stepping stones lining a path or placed randomly throughout the garden. What a fun treasure to do have year after year. They are super duper easy and inexpensive to make. I found this kit at my local Craft Store. Most of them carry them. Michael's currently has some for as low as $10. They make quickly and the kids love not only getting their hands dirty, but decorating them too.
#2 – Garden Markers: Sharpie markers is all it takes to change a rock into a masterpiece. Then give them a quick coat of either Mode Podge or spay them with Poly Urethane. Giving these this year is sure to make any Mom with a green thumb smile.
#3 – Sugar Scrub: A small amount of this luscious and easy to make scrub goes a long way and is sure to last mom well into the year. Hop on over to Reason To Skip Housework for the full recipe. All you need is a jar, sugar, coconut oil, red food coloring and lemon essential oil.
