Wardle Fields Park & Splash Pad

Last week my kids and I went to Wardle Fields Park & Splash Pad in Bluffdale and had so much fun. I am always on the lookout for something fun and free to get us out of the house during the summer and Wardle Fields Park & Splash Pad did not disappoint!

This 40-acre regional park opened in 2017 on property once owned and farmed by Charles Wardle. He farmed alfalfa, barley and sugar beets at this location for 50 years. It was then sold and Salt Lake County purchased it in 2008.

It features an awesome Splash Pad, one of the best we've been too. There is a small stream that runs through the splash pad that was fun for racing things like flip-lops down it. 

There are tons of different sprayers. Some that go straight up and some that arch and they are all timed differently so there was always a new area of sprayers turning on.

My kids LOVED this waterfall. Not only is the waterfall totally fun but the ground is made up of partially floating rubber mats that kind of makes it feel like you are walking on water.

Another great feature of this splash pad is that there is a small area just for little kiddos which is so great that they can play without worry of big kids running them over.

The park section of Wardle Fields is equally fun and well thought out. The 25-foot tall watchtower is the centerpiece of the playground with multiple enclosed slides. It overlooks the splash pad and you can really see the whole park from up there. There are also regular swings, large circle swings and full support swings to accommodate all children. The cone shaped merry-go-round was a favorite of my 8 year old. There is also a section of the playground for kids under 5 – so smart!

Another fun and fairly unique playground toy is this climbing net pyramid. As a Mom, I noticed that the park doesn't have any wood chips or messy sand. All of the playground surfaces are soft rubbery material or artificial turf. Also, all of the playground equipment seemed to stay nice and cool, even on a 95 degree day.

We have been to parks with zip lines before, but this one had two which was awesome because they are usually very popular and the line can get long!

As you explore the park be sure to find this sign and search around for these Utah animal tracks hidden in the cement and rock features around the park and splash pad.

I also loved that there are plenty of places to climb and explore. The design of this park and splash pad made it so that despite it being very crowded, there was plenty to do and plenty of space to explore and we never felt like it was too crowded to enjoy.

Don't forget this park is HUGE – there were 3 pavilions, pickleball court, basketball courts, tennis courts, walking paths and plenty of open green space to play games or fly kites. We do recommend that you take your own canopy or shade tent since most of the trees are new and there isn't much shade around the playground and splash pad. This Pacific Breeze shade tent is perfect because it's so compact to carry and it just pops up which is a must for a busy Momma with her hands full. Oh, and don't forget lots of sunscreen and snacks!
