August 10, is National S'mores Day. Who knew? I love a good, sticky, S'more with a perfectly roasted marshmallow oozing out but sometimes you want all the yummy flavors of a S'more without smelling like a campfire and the sticky mess that ALWAYS accompanies kids and S'mores! Can anyone relate?

If you don't have a campfire handy and still want to indulge in this chocolaty treat I have an alternative and this is the most simple S'mores recipe ever! This S'mores Snack Mix is easy enough that kids can make it but yummy enough everyone will want to eat it. (Really, it’s so easy I shouldn’t call it a recipe. If you can open a box, you can make S'mores Snack Mix.)
The thing I love most about this snack mix, is that it tastes exactly like a real S'more! The Hershey Drops, taste just like a Hershey Candy Bar that you would put in a S'more. The Honey Teddy Grahams are crunchy and taste exactly like their big brother the Honey Maid Graham Cracker. The mini Kraft Jet-Puffed Marshmallows are just miniature versions of the larger ones you would roast over an open flame.
Another great thing about snack mixes is that you can control the amount of each ingredient based on your preferences. We used:
1 – 10 oz box of Snack Grahams
1 – 8 oz package Hershey Drops
1 – 10 oz package Miniature Marshmallows
Next time, I am going to add 2 bags of the Hershey Drops because my family's favorite part of S'mores is the chocolate!
This mix is the perfect solution to a camping trip where you can't have an open flame due to fire restrictions. It would also be so cute served at a camping party as a favor or in a jar as a thank you gift for a neighbor.
I decided to serve mine up in individual paper treat boxes from Dollar Tree for an end of summer, “let's have S'more fun” movie night. (I got 12 of these heavy paper boxes for $1 in the wedding section of Dollar Tree.)
Check out these free printable tags I found at Botanical Paperworks. There are even two different versions! Print out the tags on card stock or photo paper.
Next, cut out tags along the dotted lines. Hole punch each tag and attach with twine. Twine or Jute is great for us frugal crafters. You can get a lot of it for just a dollar or two in the hardware section of grocery stores, home improvement stores or even dollar stores.
I hope you whip up this yummy snack mix for National S'mores Day, your next camping trip or family movie night. It's delicious indoors or out!
